Using QR codes printed on a bottle hanger on each bottle, the app allows consumers to attach a text message, voice recording or video for the recipient of the wine. The app also offers tasting notes on the Tussock Jumper range and helps users locates the nearest store to purchase another bottle. The QR codes were available on special wine bottles in 20 selected stores across Manhattan in February (in time for Valentine’s Day), and the concept is also being exhibited at Prodexpo 2015 in Moscow and ProWein 2015 in Dusseldorf. The app is free to download from Apple and Google Play app stores. Gert-Jan van Arkel, MD of Tussock Jumper, said: “The idea of sending a message in a bottle is as old as time, with people sending notes to loved ones across the sea. We are bringing the concept back to life and bang up to date thanks to the power of smartphone technology. The app is perfect for sending messages on any special occasion, from birthdays to Mother’s Day.” Since launching in late 2011, Tussock Jumper has developed a 16-strong wine range, sourcing wines from all over the world. Their wines recently became available in the UK through Amazon. www.tussockjumperwines.com Tussock Jumper QR code 2 72 dpi
